I loved the horizontal stripe below the waistband of the trunks and the white lettering and numbering on the yellow jersey. In this case, I've sketched out a new logo that takes pieces from some of my favorite former Sonics logos.
I also really like the opposition uniforms I came up with. The first is a version of the L.A. Clippers based on a uniform I remember envisioning when I was about 13 years old for a fictitious Seattle Totems basketball team (there'd be a totem pole where the nautical flags are pictured on this uniform), featuring a sky blue-and-dark gold color scheme with a favorite touch of mine, a two-color uniform (I'd love to see 3 or 4 NBA teams go two-color in the spirit of the Philadelphia 76ers red / blue road uniforms of the mid 1960s). This is the first time I've done a drawing of that Totems design that occurred to me about 40 years ago and I like it quite a bit.
The opposition in the second drawing is an Indiana Pacers design (I'd rename them the Indianapolis Pacers) that popped into my head as I was wracking my brain trying to think of something interesting to do to complete this illustration. I remembered a navy blue-and-gold shirt I really liked that my son wore when he was about 5 and that made me think of a favorite toy race car I had as a kid that was pale gold with black checkers. That all suggested the Pacers and then the idea of a logo that looks like a checkered flag but spells out "Pacers" occurred to me and that's what you see. Someday I'll have to do up a drawing showcasing that uniform and give it a few polishing touches, because I personally like this design somewhat better than what the Pacers have worn over the years in real life.
