New England Patriots Re-Design

The columnist who runs the sports-uniform blog held another re-design challenge, and this was for me probably the toughest one yet, since it was for the New England Patriots.

As longtime readers know, I’m a big Patriots fan and have very strong opinions about their uniforms. For me, the team’s design from 1969-72 was virtually perfect, so it was a daunting task indeed to come up with anything original I could bear to suggest in place of it.

Jacksonville Jaguars Re-Design

Here are my entries in the recent ESPN.com Uni Watch contest to re-design the Jacksonville Jaguars...

As usual, I went for bright colors and a some kind of cartoon mascot...



That's the home uniform, showing the Jags squaring off against the New Orleans Saints in a new Saints uniform that puts a gold halo on their helmets and includes the classic Saints mascot "Sir Saint" on the front of the helmets presenting the player numbers.Collapse )

New York Jets Re-Design

Entry 2 in my NFL Re-Design Project is the New York Jets...

As a kid, I made up a University of Dallas football team that I very creatively switched to green but otherwise made look virtually identical to the Dallas Cowboys, down to a combination of dark green with metallic green helmets and pants.  As I considered ideas for this project, that seemed like a good way to liven up the Jets venerable but somewhat low-key uniform.
